From Monterey, CA to Hanalei,
Kaua’i starting June 2027.

The team will row 2 hours on, 2 hours off, around the clock.

Our Goal
Our goal is to raise $10 million by the end of 2027 to fund the establishment of five new paralysis recovery centers around the U.S.
By expanding the network, we aim to create a nationwide continuum of care that offer the best chance for recovery, independence and overall health for this underserved community.



TEAM NEXT STEP & THE WORLD'S
TOUGHEST ROW
In June, 2027, a team of volunteer rowers (Team Next Step) will embark on the World’s Toughest Row—a non-motorized race from Monterey, California to Kaua’i.
Supported by volunteer shore team, as well as staff, our purpose is to raise $10 million to support paralysis recovery.
Currently, we are a team of four rowers, three shore teammates, many volunteers, and growing.

Dr. Brian Strahine
CHARLOTTE, NC
Brian has completed 11 marathons, Ironman Panama City Beach, and rode from Seattle to Washington DC with American Lung Association’s Big Ride Across America. He is a certified yoga instructor, clinical psychotherapist with practice, and also leads men’s wellness retreats called Men’s Sacred Liberation

Ryan McCarthy
AUSTIN, TX
Team Project Manager, Ryan has ridden his bike in the Journey of Hope, part of the Ability Experience, a 4,000 miles ride from SF to DC to raise money and awareness for the people with disabilities. Additionally, he completed the AZ Ironman triathlon for the Ability Experience. He is the proud dad of his son Griffin and daughter Clover.

Mohammad Daulatana
MIAMI, FL
Mohammad, aka “Mo”, has completed the AZ and Louisville Ironman races, seven marathons, and the JFK Ultra 50. Mo is the proud father of Prianka and Nishat.

John has completed nine marathons, two Eppy’s great races, and the Salt Lake City Ironman. John is proud father to daughter, Courtney, and son Jake.
